Lucky's escape
By Southend & District Branch Lucky came into the care of our Southend & District Branch after she had been disposed of in a black rubbish bag. She was saved from certain death by two schoolgirls who spotted the bag next to a rubbish chute in a block of flats.

Cassie Solomon and Abbie Brown were getting rid of some rubbish on the eighth floor of the block when they spotted something moving in a black sack. Despite their nervousness they opened the bag to find a tiny black kitten. The girls took the kitten to branch volunteer, Julie Lamb, who immediately gave Lucky her name and took her into her care.

Lucky was only nine weeks old at the time and was quite understandably nervous; the trauma of being literally thrown away had obviously affected her a great deal. Happily, Lucky responded well to Julie's care and attention and recently found the perfect new home where she can enjoy a happy life with her sad start now firmly behind her.

Well if the poor little kitties cant have it, then I would like to put forward

The Samaritains I know it was the first charity for Jamies Run, but following Chris last year, perhaps we could donate to them again?
cooperdan
Macmillan or other cancer related and British Heart Foundation would be my favourites as charities 023.gif
Mini Mum
British Heart Foundation or a Cancer related charity is good with me.

personaly Macmillan... but The Samaritains is also a very good choice!
BINT
im in two minds on this one, do you give to a huge organisation who have a lot of donations and people recognise or an organisation who is smaller who needs money desperately, i cant decide but im swaying towards Cancer/McMillan/Samaritans 017.gif sorry but i cant commit to just one charity.

The children at the hospice are there for many terminal conditions including cancer....

And most children love MINI's.............
Streeters
I like the idea of a local charity for the ECMC area. and that hospice seems a great place to start.

Nicci, can you stick a poll in so we can put it the vote during december ? say between

Macmillan, Samaritans & the childrens hospice 102.gif
clubster
i'm for a local ECMC charity as the national ones have plenty of support,....... plus we could pinch the idea of parking up at local shopping centre to collect for charity and recruit new ECMC members 115.gif
Mini Mum
We might also be able to run over to the hospice with a couple of mini's to present the money.
Brian
that sounds like the real deal to me lets go for it

blimey that genius dance2.gif like that idea a lot, collecting for charity and advertising the club, i would give up a saturday/sunday to collect money for charity and speak to new recruites 023.gif
The_Beast
I tried the shopping centre thing last year and got permission but only the day before the run. It would only need 2 or 3 cars and you can collect money with the centre managers permission but only in sealed and labelled containers. I think a more nationally recognised charity would be better than a local charity because people in essex etc might not understand fully where their money is going if it is a local charity in norfolk for example
Streeters
Why not then just promote the club in other regions and use flyers to advertise the run/charity and try n find a shopping centre or retail park (s) in Norfolk for fundraising itself
smeghead
i wouldnt know any contacts but chaplefield shopping centre has a large open space for such things its the direct thoro fare through the shopping centre....would be a good spot
